Manish Prabhat, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Denmark

Ambassador Manish Prabhat assumed charge as Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Denmark on 2 April 2024. Prior to this, Manish Prabhat served as Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan from September 2022 to March 2024. 

Manish Prabhat, born in 1972 in Patna, India had his school education in Patna and later went to University of Delhi. He has a Master degree in History. In 1996 he joined the Indian Foreign Service and served in various capacities in India and abroad. 

After his initial training upon joining the Indian Foreign Service, Manish Prabhat was posted to Embassy of India, Moscow as Third Secretary during 1998-1999. 

From 1999-2002, Manish Prabhat served in Yerevan where he was part of the initial team which opened the resident Embassy of India in Armenia.

During 2002-2004, Manish Prabhat was Under Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs looking after Iran and Afghanistan Desk.

During 2004-2008, Manish Prabhat served as First Secretary & Special Assistant to Ambassador at Embassy of India, Washington D.C.

In 2008, Manish Prabhat was posted back to Moscow where he was Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Culture Centre, the overseas centre of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi and also held the charge of Head of Chancery, Embassy of India, Moscow. 

After finishing his assignment in Moscow, Manish Prabhat returned to Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and served as Director (Finance) during the period 2011-2013 in which capacity he was responsible for preparing the budget of the Ministry and overseeing its expenditure and implementation, including a large portfolio of development partnership budget covering India’s overseas assistance to friendly foreign countries.

In August 2013, Prabhat became Consul General of India in Milan and had northern Italy under his consular jurisdiction, home to more than 150,000 Indian nationals and people of Indian origin.

From 2015-2018, Manish Prabhat served as Deputy Chief of Mission at Embassy of India, Paris. 

During 2018-2020, Manish Prabhat was Joint Secretary (Director General) of Eurasia Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi looking after India’s relations with 11 countries which were once part of the Former Soviet Union including the CIS. 

Apart from his native language Hindi, Ambassador Prabhat speaks English and Russian. He is married to Ruchi Narain. The couple has two daughters.
